MAD:Mitochondrial Alzheimer's Database is first of its kind repository where all the information about mitochondria and associated entities related to Alzheimer's Disease is being incorporated. In MAD information about Gene Ontology analysis, KEGG Pathway analysis and Network parameter approaches have been implemented on the mitochondrial genes associated to AD. The mission of this portal is to study the role of mitochondrial genes related to AD. We wish to design such a portal that would have a user friendly GUI, with ease of use. The main objective of this database are :-
1) Protein coding genes are being targeted to explore their regulatory role in AD.
2) Study of related annotations i.e. the process of attaching biological informatio to sequence.
3) Study of related pathway i.e. a series of action in a cell leading to a certain product.
4) Study of gene interactions.
5) Study of other related neurological diseases.
6) Study of related Gene Ontologies i.e. Biological Processes, Cellular Components and Molecular Functions.
7) Study of drugs targeting the disease specifically AD.
Future Scope
More information about other parameters related to Mitochondria and Alzheimer's will be incorporated and database will be updated on a regular basis to provide state of the art information to the users.
